LAYP is an independent youth music organization founded in 2019 to provide exceptionally talented young musicians with world-class performance and educational opportunities on the world’s greatest stages.
LAYP was founded in 2019 with a clear and bold vision: to give exceptionally talented young musicians the opportunity to perform on the world’s greatest stages.
What began as an ambitious dream quickly grew into a meaningful and sustainable program. As of 2026, LAYP proudly enters its 7th season. Even during the global pandemic, LAYP remained fully active by continuing its programs online—ensuring that students could keep learning, collaborating, and performing without interruption.
From the very beginning, our mission has remained consistent: to support, inspire, and elevate outstanding young artists by providing world-class musical experiences. Los Angeles Youth Philharmonic (LAYP) and Los Angeles Youth Symphony (LAYS) Orchestra | Band | Choir (LAYP) operate as a summer festival orchestra and year-round educational organization, serving young musicians in the greater Los Angeles area and beyond through both in-person and online platforms. Our goal is to inspire lifelong engagement in the performing arts while nurturing musical excellence at the highest level.
LAYP programs are designed to present exceptional showcases of musical brilliance—where melodies soar, harmonies resonate, and the passion of our young musicians fills the concert hall. The culmination of extensive rehearsals, artistic collaboration, and unwavering commitment results in performances that leave a lasting impression on audiences and participants alike.
The LAYP Summer Program offers student musicians a rare opportunity to showcase their talent, dedication, and relentless pursuit of excellence on renowned stages such as Walt Disney Concert Hall. Performing in such iconic venues provides a transformative experience, revealing the profound power of music and allowing the artistry of our students to touch the hearts and souls of all who witness their
The organization as a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity has been offering music education and youth orchestra programs to the children in downtown LA, running the LA Korean Youth Orchestra (https://koreanorchestra.com/) and Wesley Youth Orchestra (https://wesleyorchestra.wordpress.com/) as a year-round program, targeting the Korean-American community, and embracing multiple ethnic groups since 2004.
