Who We Are
LAYP is an independent youth music organization founded during the 2018–19 season to provide exceptionally talented young musicians with world-class performance and educational opportunities on some of the world’s most renowned stages.
What began as an ambitious vision has grown into a meaningful and sustainable program serving young musicians throughout the greater Los Angeles area and beyond. As of the 2026–27 season, LAYP proudly enters its ninth season, offering both summer and year-round opportunities through in-person and online programs.
LAYP Orchestra | Band | Choir brings together dedicated young musicians for intensive rehearsals, artistic collaboration, and performances at distinguished concert venues, including Walt Disney Concert Hall. Through these experiences, students are challenged to grow as musicians, collaborators, and young artists.

The LAYP Experience
At the heart of LAYP is the belief that young musicians grow through meaningful musical experiences—learning from accomplished educators and conductors, collaborating with fellow musicians, and performing repertoire of the highest artistic caliber.
The LAYP Summer Season provides students with opportunities to bring their preparation and artistry to renowned stages such as Walt Disney Concert Hall. These experiences encourage students to pursue excellence while discovering the discipline, inspiration, and joy that come from making music together.
Beyond the summer season, LAYP continues to support musical growth through chamber music, educational programs, and year-round performance opportunities.
LAYP’s commitment to youth music education is connected to a broader tradition of community-based music programs dating back to 2003. Over the years, these efforts have included year-round programs such as the LA Korean Youth Orchestra and Wesley Youth Orchestra, serving young musicians from the Korean-American community and increasingly diverse backgrounds throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
