LAYP Volunteer Service Program: Donate-Your-Talent Project

  • Days Volunteers Are Needed: Thursday on Zoom; Saturdays in-person and TBA
  • Service Days and Times (you can choose one or both):
    • 7:00-8:00 PM on Thursdays (online)
    • 1:00-3:00 PM on Saturdays (in-person)
    • Extended hours available
  • Service Period: academic year
    • Fall Semester: Sept- Oct- Nov- Dec.
    • Spring Semester: Jan- Feb- March- April
    • Summer Session: June- July
  • Volunteer Qualification:
    • LAYP high school students will have priority seats
    • LAYP middle school students may apply.
  • Current Volunteer Openings:
    • Strings (Violin/Viola/Cello/Bass): 3-5 (Update: violin, viola, & bass volunteer positions closed; cello volunteer – 1 opening)
    • Wind (Woodwind & Brass): 2-3 (Update: closed; openings only for Clarinet and Oboe)
    • Percussion: 2-3 (Update: closed)

Types of Work for Which Volunteers Are Needed

  1. Donate-Your-Talent Project via Tutoring: music tutoring for the students in need; preparing for lesson plans.
  2. Donate-Your-Talent Project via Concert Visit: participating in a concert visit series to a convalescent hospital/nursing home/retirement center.

  • Application Deadlines:
    • Sept. 15: Fall & Spring Semesters
    • Dec. 15: Spring Semester (new volunteers only)
    • May 15: Summer Session (new and continuing volunteers)

Exit Ticket

Click here to fill out the Exit Ticket Google Forms whenever you volunteer. In this Exit Ticket form, you will record your volunteer service hours and may add extra credits from other volunteer service organizations.
